Hello World!

First of all, I sincerely thank you for visiting this site; this is the 1st blog post I've made in my life!  I'm really excited about the prospects, and I do hope that you are too.  Aside from my friends and family humoring me by making the obligatory visit, I will assume that one or two people out there in internet land check out these posts.
Now the primary reason I created this blog is simply because I LOVE FOOTBALL!!!!  I have ALWAYS been a huge football fan - college, Pro, high school, boys club, rec league, you name it.  Life is just so much better during football season, right?  But the specific reason created this blog in particular is that I have found throughout my travels that more folks would actually follow the game, if they knew what the hell was going on!  Therefore, I have attempted to fill that gap (whether real or perceived)  and give the uninitiated a perspective on the game that helps them follow along.

This is Who I Am

I am a guy born and raised in Maryland, USA.  I was raised in Montgomery County, part of the DC Suburbs, so therefore some of my commentary will be specific to the teams in this region.  My favorite team above all is the Washington Redskins.  Stated bluntly, I'm a die-hard!  I bleed Burgundy and piss Gold (I stole that from a dude on a Skins fan message board--props to the unnamed Skins fan).  Always have been and always will be. That's not too important here, aside from wondering "why the hell does this asshole always talk about the Redskins???"  Now you know.

My intention is to discuss the game as the season unfolds, as well as specifically address certain aspects of how football is played, certain related themes, and cultural aspects of the sport on our society.  There will be plenty for a head new to the game to digest.  I even reserve the right to go on a tangent or two, and of course I will occasionally indulge myself in a good, old fashioned rant.  This serves my selfish needs to help and instruct a person in any way I can, and also my need to be heard.

Another Football Blog?


Damn right!  However, this ain't ya mama's blog son; the tone of this blog here is of a conversation on football that takes place in locker rooms, job sites, bars, frat houses, and various other locales all across the country.  I have been in countless conversations on ball through the years and maybe you have too.  The point is that this blog will take that tone, so those unfamiliar will get a feel for how colorful and entertaining football talk REALLY is!

That said, the disclaimer up front is that this is Grown Up fun.  I do not and will not make this place family friendly.  This is for the fellas (and gals) that like to speak in plain talk.  That does not mean this forum will be trashy, but it does mean that this forum will be no holds barred.  Those people that dislike blue language or humor may not feel comfortable here.  That's fine.  However, that doesn't mean that garbage is ok either.  I entreat upon you to use some common sense.  Fair enuff?

Just because I set up the blog doesn't mean that my voice is the only one that counts.  Participate!  Most of all, I strive to engender discussion.  Whether you are a hardcore football head like me, or have no idea what a first down is, feel free to contribute!  I am simply one man with an opinion and a laptop.  If you are reading this post, I assume you possess those assets as well.  Use em here!  I learn more from quality discussion, and further, we will all have more fun.  And the bottom line in these parts is to promote and experience an enjoyable interaction.
