FOOTBALL FRIDAY: Week 7 - Thoughts, Picks, and Other Stuff

I love Fridays during the season.  All the fans are wearing jerseys, shirts, and hats of their favorite teams.  The flags with team logos zipping around town, and the billboards supporting the community team always puts me in a good mood.  I love the banter between the followers of different teams, and listening to their (reasonable or otherwise) prognostication of the weekend's matchups.  But I truly love reading the sports page of the papers to get a feel for the games, and the individual teams.

It's fun to read a guy's opinion on a team or matchup in the paper and rant about it.  I don't know how many times I've read some dumbasses' take on a game and thought "does this dude even WATCH the games?"  But there are also times when I've scoffed at some hack's call on a ballgame and thought late into the third quarter "well how about that?  That sonbitch was right!"  And of course I can do a better job than half those fools.  So....I did the foolish thing and decided to pick a few games my damn self.  Have fun ranting at my opinions.

Alright, let's get right to it.  I figure I'll take a few games I like (like everyone else) and prove how smart I am.  Or something like that.  Anyway, on to the picks!

Houston Texans (3-3) vs. (-3) Tennessee Titans (3-2)

Division games are always tough, and Houston is no slouch, but I like the Titans.  They're at home, and Houston's banged up without their two best players - WR Andre Johnson and DE Mario Williams.  I just don't see them winning a tough division road game.

Kansas City Chiefs (2-3) vs. (-51/2) Oakland Raiders (4-2)

Uuuugh...This is kinda tough.  Personally, I don't like touchin' rivalry games, cause anything can happen.  And these two hate each other!  The Raiders lost my boy Jason Campbell (I love him from his Washington days), so there are issues at QB.  And a few days isn't nearly enough time for Carson Palmer to get right.  And KC has bounced back the past few weeks.  A little.  But I'm takin the Raiders.  And they won't cover.

(-91/2Green Bay Packers (6-0) vs. Minnesota Vikings (1-5)

Easy money.  Packers roll.  AND cover.

Indianapolis Colts (0-6) vs. (-14!) New Orleans Saints (4-2)

Wow.  Two touchdowns.  That's no respect!  But if Indy wants to change the national perception, they sure could do it with a big win in the Big Easy.  I have to give it to em; the Saints look pretty good so far, but I just don't know about throwin' the ponies a couple'a touchdowns.  My gut tells me that Indy will have something to say about that.  The Saints will win, but they won't cover.

Well, there's my take on Week 7 in the NFL.  Enjoy the games everybody!  Until next time.

  1. So far this has been a very interesting season. Some teams who we didn't expect to dominate are doing so and some who were expected to aren't. I for one can't wait until next until this coming weekend to see what may occur.
